We are delighted to announce that waste recycling and recovery specialist Orez has been awarded a landmark contract by Barwick’s Landscape Supplies for the design and delivery of an in-vessel composting (IVC) technology package for its new organics waste processing facility in Boyer, Tasmania, near Hobart.
This marks a significant step towards sustainable waste management in the region. The facility will provide an important service in processing commercial organic waste and kerbside food and garden organic (FOGO) waste in an environmentally sustainable manner.
The advanced in-vessel composting technology brings a range of benefits. It facilitates maximum diversion from landfill, contributing to the Tasmanian and Australian governments’ waste reduction goals to halve the amount of organic waste sent to landfill by 2030. The fully enclosed tunnel design will also reduce CO2 emissions, control odours, and improve the consistency and quality of compost product produced.

Detailed engineering of the in-vessel composting solution is expected to be completed over the coming months, with fabrication and construction of the four composting tunnels and relevant air and water systems to commence upon receiving final approvals from the relevant government authorities.
