Screening Line Extension –  Three-Fraction Compost Classification

Following the successful delivery of the primary compost screening line, OREZ was subsequently engaged by Soilco to extend the system’s classification capability through the supply and commissioning of an additional screening stage.

The extension involved the installation of an M2SE star screen to introduce a third screening “cut,” enabling composted organics to be separated into three distinct fractions to improve product quality and downstream handling efficiency.

The upgraded screening configuration now delivers:

  • Oversize fraction directed to a hand-picking station for decontamination

  • Mid-size compost fraction suitable for reuse or blending

  • Fine compost fraction meeting final product specifications

To further enhance contamination control, the star screen is equipped with an integrated wind sifter, allowing light plastics and film contaminants to be removed from the oversize fraction prior to discharge into the storage bay.

OREZ’s scope for this phase included equipment supply and commissioning, ensuring the additional screening stage operated seamlessly within the established process.
